Brutal Assault on a Family at Indian Hut – Galle Fort We need justice. Please read and share. On the night of April 16, 2025, a peaceful family trip turned into a nightmare when a Muslim family from Colombo was violently assaulted at Indian Hut Restaurant in Galle Fort. Around 11:00PM, a group from the family — including women and children — visited the restaurant for dinner. The steward took their order, but after a 30-minute wait, the staff returned only to say that no food was available. When the family politely questioned why they weren’t informed earlier, an argument broke out. What followed was completely unimaginable. Without warning, restaurant staff began attacking the family with iron rods and poles. Not just one or two—but nearly 15 staff members and 15 outsiders joined the assault. Children were beaten. Women were attacked. Chaos broke out. When other family members heard about the incident and rushed to help, they too were attacked—this time by a group that included outsiders who had been called in. Witnesses say about 15 more individuals joined the hotel staff in this brutal and coordinated attack. To make matters worse, instead of seeking justice for the victims, it appears that the Galle Police are siding with the restaurant, allegedly due to close ties with the management. This raises serious concerns about bias and obstruction of justice. Injuries reported include: A 28-year-old man with a serious head injury A 17-year-old boy with injuries to his eye, face, and body A 14-year-old boy with wounds all over his body This was not just a fight—it was a targeted, violent assault on an innocent family, including children.
